LORENT is being developed by otolaryngologist Dr. Rūdolfs Jānis Vīksne, MD, PhD, in cooperation with the healthcare service platform MeDi Group and the OC VISION group. The new clinic will combine medical expertise with a long-term approach to healthcare infrastructure development. The initial investment in the project amounts to EUR 2.5 million, with OC VISION holding a 10.6% stake. LORENT will provide comprehensive ear, nose and throat (ENT) care, ranging from precise diagnostics and specialist consultations to modern surgical procedures. Bringing services together in one location, supported by the latest medical technologies and a compassionate, personalised approach, will significantly simplify the treatment journey for patients.
“With the opening of LORENT, patients will have access to a comprehensive range of ENT services in one place — from diagnostics to surgery — whereas until now they have often had to seek these services from different healthcare providers. We are creating an environment where technology is combined with genuine care, so that every patient feels heard, understood and expertly looked after, with a clear treatment plan from the first consultation through to recovery,” says Dr. Rūdolfs Jānis Vīksne, MD, PhD, Head and Co-owner of LORENT.
The new clinic is set to open in the spring of 2026 at 18A Kokneses Prospekts, Mežaparks, Riga. Operations will commence following registration in the Register of Medical Institutions and the receipt of all necessary permits from the Health Inspectorate. Initially, patients will have access to outpatient services, including specialist consultations and diagnostic examinations. Modern surgical treatment will be introduced several months later.
LORENT is expected to provide more than 10,000 consultations per year, becoming a regional centre of expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of ENT conditions. The clinic’s aim is to promote early diagnosis and prevention, thereby reducing the number of untreated and long-standing ENT conditions that affect quality of life in Latvia.
The LORENT team will include Latvian otolaryngologists and researchers specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of vertigo, surgery of the nose and paranasal sinuses, larynx and ears, ENT conditions in adults and children, as well as myofunctional therapy and speech and language therapy. The clinic will include four outpatient consultation rooms, an operating theatre and inpatient facilities. Having a wide range of services available in one location will make the path to recovery significantly easier for patients by ensuring not only treatment, but also follow-up and long-term care after surgery.
A substantial share of the investment will be allocated to next-generation diagnostic and surgical equipment. The clinic plans to use minimally invasive treatment methods, including laser, coblation and endoscopic systems, enabling gentle and precise procedures for both adults and children. These technologies will support procedures with minimal recovery times and a high degree of diagnostic accuracy and surgical precision. This will help improve treatment outcomes and patients’ quality of life, while enabling them to return to their daily routines as quickly as possible. This is particularly important for children, as it helps reduce painful ENT treatment experiences and lowers the risk of developing a lasting fear of doctors.
The new clinic will occupy nearly 500 square metres, and its location in Mežaparks will ensure convenient access by both public transport and private car.
LORENT will partner with Vision Express Hearing Centres by OC VISION to expand the accessibility of hearing screenings and improve the diagnostics of ENT conditions in Latvia. This collaboration will ensure comprehensive hearing correction options, ranging from the fitting of hearing aids to medical and surgical treatment methods.
